Old Computer Code

This page contains links to Old Software used with the Old Systems. This is an attempt to organize this material in a usable form.

Intel MSDOS Code

In 1985, Intel abandoned the Microprocessor Development Systems (MDS) for MSDOS-based tools. This is that collection of tools.

ASM-86 Assemblers

This archive contains the Intel ASM86 Assembler and Manuals for these programs. The .7Z file of the software archive is as it was received from Intel. There were no disks to image. This comiler works with the iAPX 86/88 Utilities to create executable files.

Intel ISIS-II Code

These archives contain disk images for various versions of ISIS-II released by Intel for the various MDS platforms. The 7Z file contains a text file with the complete disk label(s). It containes a 7Z archive with the extracted files found on the disk image, it contains the IMG file of the disk, and, if available, the IMD or DMK image of the disk. The DMK and/or IMD contain images which contain disk format information that can be used to create a exact copy of te original imaged disk. The IMG image is a RAW image which only contains the original disk contents in a format suitable for Simulators.

This is a growing collection of software which will run on the MDS-800 (MDS-I), MDS-II, MDS-III, and MDS-IV. The real problem is getting the disk images contained here onto media suitable for use on one of these hardware systems. These systems all use an early double-density disk format know as MMFM. It is not compatible with the MFM that replaced it the standard double-density format. Currently, our solutions were to get a copy of a bootable disk from someone else with KERMIT on it and use KERMIT in a terminal emulator, like Tera Term to move files between the PC and the host system. Not a real good solution.

I and others are working to get Monitors smart enough to handle disk formatting, reading, and writting between the PC and the host system. Work continues.

This is only the beginning of this work. We have images of hundreds of disks to process and place up on this site as well as BITSAVERS.ORG, and others. It is labor intensive and will take time to add code to the archive.

Software Toolbox Source, Ver 1.0

This archive contains the Intel Software Toolbox Source code for Version 1.0. It is contained in 5 disk images. These disks were imaged from Intel ISIS-II SS SD 256,256 byte disks.
